Marc Anthony announced as mentor on "X-Factor": Better than Bieber?

“American Idol” and “X-Factor” have certainly been spinning some heads lately with all of the celebrity hires. “AI” is wiping the slate completely clean with a brand new judging panel consisting of Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and possibly Nicki Minaj. How many reports can there possibly be that Minaj is close to signing? Wow… That’s getting really old and fans are getting tired of taking the bait.

You can’t blame Randy Jackson for bolting… We were lucky to have him as long as we did. We’ll all miss ya Dawg but, we’re happy you won’t be in the middle of the anticipated catfight between Mariah and Nicki. Let’s hope that Keith Urban comes out of it unscathed…

“X-Factor” has added Britney Spears to their judging team but, that’s not the latest scoop hitting the streets these days. It’s all about the celebrity mentors lately. According to TMZ, Marc Anthony has been added to the list of mentors for this season. He will apparently be aiding Simon Cowell’s hopefuls.

The media is pinning Anthony against Justin Bieber. Fans' comments have shown that many are not impressed by their choices.

Some have made comments stating that Bieber shouldn’t be mentoring singers because of his personal overuse of auto-tune technology. Ok... he reportedly has stated that it's Melodyne; not to be confused with auto-tune. We're splitting hairs here people... Pitch correction is pitch correction... Do you think he's the only artist utilizing this product? Ha! Far from it!

Others have stated that they didn’t think Anthony had enough recognizable hits to warrant the honor.

Well, let's see... Justin Beiber has sold over 15 million albums so far and Marc Anthony has two Grammy awards under his belt so, they both have a little bit of clout. In Bieber's defense, his fans could care less about Melodyne and there is no way they're going to miss seeing him on the show this season. Ka-ching!

The lip-sync queen, Britney Spears will no doubt take some hits from fans for critiquing vocalists for their live performances. Some fans feel it’s hypocritical.

Once again, don’t be too quick to judge… In all fairness, Spears proved that she had pipes when she was just a young girl and there are videos to prove it. Unfortunately, the singer may not give herself enough credit to actually tackle a live tour like other singers such as Pink or Lady Gaga.

But, her career is far from over and there’s always hope that someday she’ll challenge herself and show everyone that she’s got the goods. Perhaps she’ll actually give it a whirl on the show…

In the meantime, it should be interesting to see Britney dish it out next to Simon Cowell. It’s been rumored that she isn’t pulling any punches which could be a good thing for the show. Perhaps execs finally realized that sicky-sweet judges aren’t exactly what America wants to see.

Nicole Scherzinger got the boot after just one season on the U.S. version of “X-Factor.” The American audience found Nicole to be wishy-washy and were annoyed with her by the end of the season. But, don’t feel sorry for Scherzinger because she was given a chance to redeem herself on the UK version of the hit show.

So, the mentors haven’t exactly captured much interest from the public yet but, just having Britney Spears on board has got to help the ratings for so many reasons.
Meanwhile, “The Voice” crew kicks back and escapes the chaos involved with adding new players. They’ve got to be thrilled to have their panel back.

How awesome would it be if an old “Mickey Mouse Club” member was on Simon’s team and covered a Christina Aguilera song? You can bet your last dollar that Britney’s reaction would be money in the bank for the show. Even Christina would watch!
