Hot Tours: Justin Bieber Shoots To No. 1 with Believe Tour

With the launch of the Believe Tour,Justin Bieber earns the No. 1 ranking on this week's slate of top-grossing tours with gross and attendance totals reported from the first five arenas on the itinerary. Box office revenue tops $6.2 million from the first 80,569 sold tickets, according to tour promoter AEG Live.

Bieber's current tally of Hot Tours includes ticket sales from five markets in the western U.S. beginning with Phoenix, the site of the tour's first show on September 29 at Jobing.com Arena in the Glendale suburb. The Phoenix performance was followed by concerts in Las Vegas on September 30, Fresno on October 5 and Oakland the following evening. Los Angeles hosted the Canadian pop star on October 2 and 3 at Staples Center with a combined attendance count of 27,546 for both nights. All six concerts were sold out.

Country artist Carrie Underwood scores a second place ranking among the top tours of the week with $4.2 million in box office revenue reported from the North American leg of her Blown Away Tour, currently on the road through late December. Eight shows that occurred from September 26 through October 7 are included in this week's recap. Calgary's Scotiabank Saddledome drew the largest crowd with a packed house of 11,213 in attendance on October 2. With a gross of $697,172, the Calgary arena's gross and attendance figures are the highest among venue totals reported since the tour's start earlier this year. Atlantic recording artist Hunter Hayes is providing support for the North American leg of the tour.

Alanis Morissette holds the No. 5 spot this week with ticket sales reported from her swing through Brazilian concert venues during September. Touring in support of her latest album Havoc and Bright Lights, the Canadian-born singer kicked off the Brazilian trek of her 2012 Guardian Angel Tour in São Paulo with 10,000 in attendance at shows on September 2 and 3 at Credicard Hall. Additional concert appearances followed in Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Goiânia as reported by promoter T4F (Time For Fun) Productions.
