Justin Bieber demonstrated some mighty fine acting skills in his ‘As Long as You Love Me’ video, going mano y mano with tough guy Michael Madsen, who played his girlfriend’s disapproving dad in the clip. Actually, Madsen’s fist met Bieber’s pretty face for much of their interaction, but it was a well-done simulation of Biebs getting his butt kicked. The teen recently admitted that he is continuing to work on and hone his acting skills, and shared deets about the vid’s thematic arc.
In a chat with E!, the singer said explained the origin and root of the video’s meaning. “This video, I wanted it to be a little bit more edgy and have that appeal,” he said. “But I also wanted it to make sense with the song. And I feel kind of like the whole ‘Romeo and Juliet’ story and how the dad didn’t want [me] to be with the daughter, I just thought that was the perfect [match for the lyrics] ‘I’ll be your silver, I’ll be your gold.’ I’ll do anything for you to be my girl.”
Beliebers, are you swooning at that swagtastic explanation? That Biebs is a true romantic.
He’s also been bitten by the acting bug.
“I hope to do some more acting. I’ve only done a few things like ‘CSI,’ but I really want to do some more acting,” he confessed. “Mark Wahlberg and I, we’ve been working on a script for a long time now… I mean it’s like a little basketball concept.”
Oh the long-gestating Mark Wahlberg basketball movie. Yo, Marky Mark, you’re a big deal in Hollywood. Get that thing made, pronto. You’re A-list. Biebs is A-list. What’s the hold up, son?
The Biebs will pursue acting, but right now, his dance card is filled with a huge tour set for September. Despite being in high demand, The Biebs tries to make time for low-key stuff with peeps that he loves.
“It’s just about keeping close family around and getting that time for yourself and to really have alone time and hang out with your friends and stuff like that,” he said.
